Career fair held to promote the integration of our compatriots forcibly displaced from Artsakh
YSU Ijevan Branch hosted the second edition of the "New Career Opportunities and Perspectives" career fair. The event was organized in cooperation with Yerevan State University and Eurasia International University, as part of the "Learn and Earn: Artsakh" program of the Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU). The career fair aimed to foster communication between citizens and employers in Tavush Province of Armenia, as well as to develop the skills of job seekers, particularly those forcibly displaced from Artsakh, to make them more competitive in the labor market.
The main goal of the event was to support the socio-economic integration of compatriots forcibly displaced from Artsakh into Armenian society, while enhancing their competitiveness in the labor market and addressing employment challenges.
As part of the fair, meetings were held between employers and job seekers, and workshops were held to develop job-seeking skills.
Mikayel Hovhannisyan, Vice-Rector for Development and Innovation at YSU, emphasized the importance of organizing such events, stating: "For both this and the previous fair, we tried to select employers from various sectors to ensure that each job seeker has the opportunity to find a field and job offer that interest them. Creating an environment for people to cooperate, especially those who have become disheartened due to the hardships they have faced, can have a significant positive psychological impact. Therefore, YSU will continue to support our compatriots forcibly displaced from Artsakh through various programs, and such events will be organized frequently."
Mikayel Hovhannisyan also noted that considering the active participation of both employers and visitors at the previous career fair the results were quite satisfactory.
Ruben Markosyan, Vice-Rector on Academic Affairs at Eurasia International University, emphasized the significant fact that the event was organized at YSU Ijevan Branch, which plays a key role in the educational and academic sector of Tavush Province.
"I encourage participants, especially young people, to actively interact with employers. Even if you do not find the right job at this job fair, do not be discouraged. Leave your contact details with the employers, and take part in the job-searching skill development workshops we have organized to boost your competitiveness in the labor market," said Ruben Markosyan.
Karine Nazaryan, Deputy Director of YSU Alumni and Career Center, pointed out that although the primary target audience for the career fair is those displaced from Artsakh, the event is open to everyone.
"This is also a good opportunity for employers from different provinces to present themselves and showcase the current opportunities they have. For us, it is a great opportunity to start new collaborations with our partners from the provinces. Over 28 employers were hosted at YSU Ijevan Branch during the fair, and just 15 minutes after the opening, around 300 visitors had attended," she mentioned.
Karine Nazaryan emphasized that the previous fair held in Yerevan just a week ago has already yielded positive results, as some forcibly displaced people of Artsakh have already found jobs they prefer.
Haykuhi Gevorgyan, Director of the AGBU "Learn and Earn: Artsakh" program, emphasized that the program’s main goal is to help Artsakh people participate in training courses that will enable them to integrate more easily and quickly into the Armenian labor market, as these workshops also introduce them to a wide range of occupations.
She added that more than 17 different vocational trainings are available, and over 800 participants have already taken part in them.
The next career fair will take place on December 6 in Abovyan Town, and the final fair will be held again in Yerevan on December 11.
As part of the December 11 job fair, a roundtable discussion will also be organized to summarize the outcomes of the four fairs. During the discussion, the organizers will propose potential solutions to the identified issues with the support of both state agencies and knowledgeable specialists.
As a reminder, the previous career fair was held in Yerevan on November 21.
