New level prospect for studying technological issues at YSU: Memorandum of cooperation signed
Today, YSU Rector Hovhannes Hovhannisyan and Khachik Sahakyan, CEO of Grovf Company, signed a memorandum of cooperation between the two institutions. They emphasized the significant role of partnership and cooperation in organizing students' education, with a shared goal of training highly qualified IT specialists.
According to the memorandum, the Chip Design and Architecture will be established at YSU Institute of Physics within the framework of Grovf Academy. The lab will be equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and an environment that meets international standards.
YSU Rector Hovhannes Hovhannisyan assured that the laboratory will create new opportunities for students, not only to deepen their theoretical knowledge but also to acquire and develop practical skills.
As outlined in the memorandum, an elective course titled "Computer Architecture and Chip Design" will be included in YSU bachelor’s and master’s degree programs, with qualified specialists from Grovf Company also involved in the course delivery process.
CEO of the company Khachik Sahakyan stated that the establishment of the laboratory and the delivery of courses will provide an opportunity to train specialists who will be competitive in leading international companies and capable of implementing innovative projects.
Khachatur Nerkaryan, Director of YSU Institute of Physics, noted that the cooperation will provide an opportunity to elevate the study of technological issues to a new level.
"Our researchers and students are already involved in solving issues related to large-scale integrated circuits, but now there is an opportunity to directly engage with the design work. In other words, we will not be limited to studying the quality of existing circuits; we will also directly analyze the physical processes occurring within them, which represents a new level. All the necessary conditions are in place for the project to succeed," he said.
The parties expressed hope that the cooperation will have a long-term positive impact on both the university and the development of Armenia’s scientific and technological sectors.
