YSU team secures triple victory at ICPC World Finals
The Armenian delegation, comprising 4 YSU teams, competed in the semi-finals of the ICPC (International Collegiate Programming Contest) World Finals 2025 in Tbilisi, Georgia. The delegation was led by Armen Andreasyan, coach of the YSU teams and Assistant Professor at the Chair of Programming and Information Technologies.
The latest stage of the ICPC was held at Georgian National University.
About 70 students and schoolchildren from three countries participated in the South Caucasus Individual Open Championship, which took place on December 14.
In the five-hour contest, having solved 9 out of the 12 tasks, Samvel Andreasyan was declared the absolute winner and awarded the contest’s trophy.
Second-degree diplomas were awarded to Hamlet Petrosyan, Hakob Ayvazyan, and Sergey Grigoryan.
The main competition, the Northern Eurasia Regional Contest (NERC) final, took place on December 15 simultaneously in four cities: St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Astana, and Tbilisi. Over 300 teams participated. The YSU team, "Yerevan SU: Good Knight", consisting of Samvel Andreasyan, Robert Kocharyan, and Hamlet Petrosyan, secured 20th place overall, becoming the only team from the South Caucasus to qualify for the ICPC Finals 2025.
The YSU team will participate in the prominent international contest's finals for the fifth time, which is also the best result among universities in the region.
The "Yerevan SU: Good Knight" team also achieved the best result in the South Caucasus Team Open Championship, held as part of the contest, and was crowned South Caucasus champion, receiving a trophy.
The "Yerevan SU: Improvis" team, consisting of Hakob Ayvazyan, Gevorg Boyakhchyan, and Davit Yengoyan, took second place and received a first-degree diploma.
The third YSU team, composed of Sergey Grigoryan, Vahagn Tsirunyan, and Rafayel Susanyan, received a second-degree diploma.
The ICPC World Finals 2025 will be the 49th edition of the contest, and YSU has participated since 2001.
