THE ROLE OF PHILOSOPHERS AND PSYCHOLOGISTS IN THE MODERN WORLD
Philosophy and psychology are the basic fields that examine the nature and existence of humans. Philosophy deals with the study of nature and life, while psychology analyzes human thought and behavior in light of circumstances and private situations.
Psychology, originating from philosophy, is significantly different from the latter. Among the problems of modern philosophy is the coordination of the scientific and philosophical development trends of modern civilization, the prediction of worldview motives of crises, and the development of concepts for overcoming them. Psychology studies the structure of the psyche, stages of development, perceptions, interpretations, and analysis of pathological manifestations, as well as the principles and methods of psycho-diagnosis, and psychological research.
As the ancient Greek philosopher Aristotle said, "Self-knowledge is the beginning of all wisdom." The professorial staff of the Faculty of Philosophy and Psychology of YSU is guided by this principle, offering solid knowledge for reflection and self-improvement on current, important issues for existence, as well as a guide to professional development and progress.
The Faculty of Philosophy and Psychology of YSU is taking necessary steps in the direction of increasing the quality of education and involving students in that field. The lecturers of the faculty participate in both local and international exchange programs, within the framework of which they not only train themselves but also lecturers from partner educational institutions.
An important part of the faculty's scientific activity is grant programs, which also include Master's students. In addition to the local ones, the faculty is a member of international programs, among which is the "Psi Chi" international psychological honorary society, in the framework of which students of the faculty participate in the programs implemented.
Students gain a comprehensive understanding of both fields while getting Undergraduate and Master's level education at the faculty, they already specialize in specific fields, having the opportunity to study many areas of psychology (ethics, clinical psychology, psychotherapy, personality psychology, and psychological counseling, management psychology, child psychology and psychotherapy, applied psychology, management psychology, and family psychology).
The faculty cooperates with state administration bodies, educational complexes, non-governmental organizations, clinics, penitentiary institutions, business organizations, banks, and many other institutions. In the framework of these partnerships, students undergo professional internships with the prospect of entering the main job later.
Acquiring professional knowledge in the Faculty of Philosophy and Psychology contributes to training not only skilled psychologists and philosophers but also analysts and experts in strategic planning in any field, as the philosophy of the organization defines the work it does.
