“CHINA-EURASIA”. ACADEMIC CONFERENCE STARTED AT YSU
“China-Eurasia” academic conference was held today in the Session Hall of YSU Academic Council.
The focus of the conference was on modern China-Eurasia studies, in a multi-disciplinary social science perspective. This conference was dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the PRC.
During the 2nd International Conference YSU Vice-rector Artur Israyelyan made an opening speech.
"It is symbolic that the 2nd International Conference is organized in the framework of academic activities dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the YSU and the 70th anniversary of the People's Republic of China," noted the Vice-rector of YSU.
According to him the development of orientalism is of strategic importance for our country.
"Due to the changes taking place in the Eurasian region, it is imperative for us today to respond to the emerging challenges and to use the the opportunities": said Mr. Artur Israyelyan.
He also highlighted the fact that the development of Chinese studies is a priority for YSU.
During the conference Lena Nazaryan, Vice President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, Head of the NA Armenia-China Friendship Group also delivered a speech.
"Armenia highly appreciates the cooperation with China," Lena Nazaryan said. "Being a member of the Eurasian Economic Union, it is very important for Armenia to sign an agreement on economic and trade cooperation between the two countries".
The NA Vice Speaker also spoke about the "One Belt, One Road" project, which is one of the biggest projects of China, in which Armenia is very interested.
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to Armenia also delivered a speech during the international conference.
"Today, China is a developed economy, which is ready to cooperate with its international partners, conclude agreements on co-operation in different fields, as well as continue to work towards the strengthening of national values." said Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary H.E.Mr. Tian Erlong.
It was organized an exhibition titled "Beautiful China" by the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Armenia.
