REPRESENTATIVES OF THE UN OFFICE IN ARMENIA MET WITH REPRESENTATIVES OF THE UNIVERSITY
The students of the Faculty of Journalism met today with the UN Resident Coordinator Shombi Sharp within the framework of the "International Journalism and International Organizations" course.
Acting YSU Rector Hovhannes Hovhannisyan, Dean of the Faculty of Journalism Naghash Martirosyan, representatives of the faculty and students participated in the meeting organized at the ISTC on the initiative of the Faculty of Journalism.
"We are glad to host the UN representatives at YSU. It is commendable that the Faculty of Journalism organizes such meetings for students as part of the course. YSU has a long history of cooperation with the UN Office in Armenia, within the framework of which a number of programs have been implemented. In general, we attach great importance to cooperation with the UN," said Hovhannes Hovhannisyan.
Dean of the Faculty Naghash Martirosyan thanked the representatives of the UN Office for their willingness to work with YSU. "The idea to start this course came from the UN office when we visited the Public Relations and Information Department of the office. It was decided to acquaint future journalists with all the nuances of working with international organizations."
The role of the journalist has always been high and important, as they reveal the truth and inform the public. "The power of journalism and communication has increased with the development of social media, as anyone who has a phone connected to the Internet can provide information, so the role of professional journalism is becoming more important nowadays," said Shombi Sharp and expressed hope that cooperation with YSU will be further expanded.
