LIKE OTHER DEANS, I ALSO WANT OUR FACULTY TO BE THE BEST." GEVORG BARSEGHYAN
We talked to the dean of YSU Faculty of European Languages and Communication Gevorg Barseghyan about the achievements of the faculty, international cooperation and development prospects of the faculty
- Mr. Barseghyan, can you tell us about the achievements of the faculty during recent years?
Master's programs "Administrative Translation", "Tourism Translation (English-Armenian)", "Practical Communication" have been opened at the Faculty.
The hall of the Academic Council of the Faculty (422 students) and the library-office (426 students) were renovated, and within the framework of effective cooperation with the Italian Embassy, the Italian Language Office was also renovated, an auditorium dedicated to one of the grateful members of the faculty, Professor Hasmik Tokmajyan, was opened.
Through the joint efforts of the Head of the Chair of Romance Philology and myself, the Spanish Cabinet was opened.
One of the important achievements of the faculty is the progress made in the publication of scientific journals of international importance.
-Can you tell us more about international cooperation of the faculty?
We cooperate quite actively with our international partners. In recent years, the cooperation of the faculty with "Erasmus +" has become more active, to which students are actively applying.
The French Chair of Philology, whose partner is the University of Paul Valery in Montpellier, is active in establishing international relations. I plan to go there in March next year and give a lecture on sports, with the aim of further strengthening our cooperation.
In recent years we have been collaborating with the universities of Provence and Lille in France, and much closer to the universities of Madrid and Cádiz in the field of Romance languages.
Thanks to the efforts of Hasmik Baghdasaryan, Head of the Chair of Romance Philology, a new phase of partnership with the University of Granada has recently begun.
- Can you tell us about the prospects for the development of the faculty?
Like every dean, I want our faculty to continue to improve its activities, to be the best, to have more international programs.
I wish our students would not change their study schedule due to financial problems.
It is also very important to increase the number of native language teachers at the faculty, which would make the process of teaching foreign languages even more effective, as those classes require a completely different approach.
