TWO-DAY INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ENTITLED "QUESTIONS FROM THE MEDIA AND QUESTIONS TO THE MEDIA: FORMULATING NEW REALITIES" STARTED AT YSU
On the initiative of YSU Faculty of Journalism, today started "Questions from the media and questions to the media. Formulating New Realities ”conference, which is dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the RA Public Television and the 95th anniversary of the Public Radio.
Acting Rector of YSU Hovhannes Hovhannisyan, Dean of YSU Faculty of Journalism Naghash Martirosyan, Executive Director of Public Radio Garegin Khumaryan and Head of ISTC Center Areg Gevorgyan were present at the event.
The conference was joined online by Public Television Executive Director Hovhannes Movsisyan, St. Petersburg State University School of Journalism and Communication Professor Sergey Korkonosenko, Wayne State University (USA) Professor Hayk Oshakan, Brussels Free University (Belgium) researcher Jonathan Hendrix.
"Although in the modern world living in the 5th information revolution, our profession is facing serious challenges, but we must agree that journalism is living its golden age due to the unprecedented development of information and communication technologies," said Naghash Martirosyan, Dean of the Faculty of Journalism.
"Because of the epidemic, many people attend the conference online, but it should be noted that the panel of speakers is quite representative and diverse. Indeed, the media is one of the fastest growing platforms in the world, which is obliged to provide objective information to the public. Unfortunately, today we do not always encounter objective news, mainly headline journalism, which usually has nothing to do with the content of the material and the presentation of accurate facts. Such journalists, as a rule, have nothing to do with university education. I am glad that our students receive a basic education at the Faculty of Journalism and enter the media field as qualified specialists," said Hovhannes Hovhannisyan in his welcoming speech, adding that the representatives of the fourth power should always remember that they have a great influence on the society.
Garegin Khumaryan, expressing hope that the cooperation between YSU Faculty of Journalism and the Public Radio Company will continue to develop.
