Speaking to us, Davit Tovmasyan, President of the YSU Student Council Debate Club, said that the aim of the Debate Club Championship is to involve students in the art of eloquence, to develop their critical thinking, to provide new theoretical knowledge and debate skills, as well as to introduce existing public discourse.
Davit Tovmasyan said that about 45 teams had previously applied to participate in this championship, of which 16 were selected through interviews.
Before each round, a draw is made to determine which team will compete against whom and on what topic.
Davit Tovmasyan told us that the club has a number of programs, such as the related championship. "We plan to hold two championships in February and March as well."
