ARMENIA'S QUARTER-FINAL OF "ICPC" PROGRAMMING INTERNATIONAL STUDENT OLYMPIAD LAUNCHED AT YSU
17 competitive and 2 non-competitive teams from different universities of Armenia participated in the quarter-final of the world's largest and most prestigious programming competition, "ICPC" Armenia, held at Yerevan State University. The teams that overcome the quarterfinals will soon participate in the semi-finals and then the finals.
Armen Andreasyan, coach of YSU programming Olympic teams, told us that each of the five teams of Yerevan State University was prepared in the best way. According to him, the teams have the maximum amount of knowledge to advance to the final.
The members of the "Yerevan SU-1" team, YSU Informatics and Applied Mathematics Faculty students Samvel Andreasyan, Robert Kocharyan, and Davit Margaryan, have experience participating in the competition. During the interview, they mentioned that they are in favor of teamwork, and the process of finding solutions to complex and interesting problems is very motivating.
Samvel said that he values students' participation in various competitions, in this case, the international and most prestigious competition in informatics, for which, according to him, it is necessary to master some programming language, and to know algorithms, and data structures.
"Our team has been involved in programming since school age and participated in international school Olympiads and achieved success. This time we have prepared quite well, we are in a combative mood," said Samvel.
Nelli Vardanyan and Astenik Hovhannisyan, second-year students of the Faculty of Informatics and Applied Mathematics of YSU, having learned about the possibility of participating in the competition, decided to try their hand. In a conversation with us, they said that the success of their older friends makes them even more excited, and they have high expectations. At the same time, there is a great responsibility to do everything so that the YSU team achieves great success like last year.
YSU graduate student Levon Muradyan participated in the ICPC international programming competition six years in a row and passed the final stage twice. In the conversation with us, he mentioned that this year there are strong teams that will surely reach the final.
"I think the teams include such students who will achieve high results thanks to teamwork. You just need to be careful while doing the work," Levon emphasized.
YSU team recorded an unprecedented result, winning a bronze medal at the "ICPC" International Programming Olympiad held in April 2022.
