YSU STUDENTS DEVELOP THEIR KNOWLEDGE ABOUT REFUGEES PROTECTION RIGHTS․ THREE-DAYS AUTUMN SCHOOL WAS HELD.
From the 11th until 13th of November Yerevan State University students participated in a school program on the subject of “Refugees’ Rights” organized by the Office of UN High Commissioner for Refugees in Armenia (UNHCR) and “Mission Armenia” NGO gaining new knowledge within the framework of these classes.
The purpose of this autumn school, which was held in Dilijan was to stimulate the development of clinical knowledge in the field of Refugees rights protection and to expand the cooperation between Legal clinics of different Armenian universities.
Twenty-five students attended to the autumn school from the Legal Clinics of the following universities: Gavar State University, Gladzor University, Northern University and Progress University of Gyumri.
During the three-day courses future lawyers have gained knowledge about Refugees international protection, Refugee status and Asylum procedures (provisions of granting, including, excluding and ceasing), Refugee status determination procedures in Migration Service of Armenia and many other topics.
It is important that within the framework of this school alongside with the lecturers from the above mentioned universities representatives and experts from several international institutions (UN High Commissioner for Refugees), State Bodies (Migration Service of Armenia, Criminal Court of Appeal of Armenia) as well as Non-Governmental Organizations (Mission Armenia NGO) have been involved in the teaching process.
It is worthwhile to mention that aside from professional knowledge students have learned about practical activity of Legal Clinics furthermore the details of the program called “Street Law” which is being implemented for high schools by Legal Clinic students of YSU as well as Gavar and Gyumri Universities.
