STUDENTS OF CAMBRIDGE AND EDINBURGH UNIVERSITIES CONTINUE THEIR EDUCATION AT YSU
The Chair of Iranian Studies of the Faculty of Oriental Studies of YSU organizes a course, within the framework of which four students from Cambridge and Edinburgh universities will strengthen their knowledge of Iranian studies and the Persian language in one semester.
YSU, fulfilling the functions that are the pillars of the university's strategic goals, provides quality education for foreign students as well, expands the scope of cooperation with international educational institutions, and continuously creates connections between Armenian and foreign researchers-lecturers supporting the university's internationalization process.
Students studying in European universities have the opportunity to participate in programs implemented as a result of cooperation between educational institutions, and if they win, they receive a scholarship.
A scholarship awarded under this collaborative program allows students to choose a university where they will attend a course. Due to its initiative and strong international ties, Yerevan State University has been allowed to be one of the universities where students can apply and continue their studies.
One student from Edinburgh University and three from Cambridge University are currently studying at Yerevan State University.
Within the framework of the specially developed program for them, teaching is organized in English, while part of the lessons is in Persian.
Although the course focuses on studying and learning Persian, there are also theoretical subjects related to Iranian culture, history, Iranian literature, etc.
In addition to compulsory subjects, which are 16 academic hours per week, students are also provided with an Armenian language course, within the framework of which they get to know the culture and history of our country, as well as Armenian-Iranian cultural and historical borrowings. Students make educational visits to historical and cultural places, museums, and scientific and educational institutions of Armenia.
This cooperation is important both in terms of developing scientific-academic and inter-university interaction. It is an indicator of YSU's high ranking, quality education, skilled professors and scientists, and strong international ties. Such interactions emphasize the educational quality and recognition of the Department of Iranian Studies of the Faculty of Oriental Studies of YSU, due to which students of famous European universities have chosen to continue their studies here.
The students who came from Cambridge and Edinburgh universities and were educated at YSU mentioned to us that they aim to apply the academic knowledge they have received here by engaging in scientific activities in various scientific and educational institutions, universities, research institutes, and elsewhere.
Bilateral cooperation can become the basis for the continuation of the program and for expanding the scope of the involvement of students from other European countries. Negotiations have already been launched with the University of Edinburgh, which is one of YSU's partners and recruits students who want to participate in YSU's educational programs, then organizes their study process at YSU.
Such programs are intended for students who wish to improve their language and geography skills. Oxford University students are planned to be included in the program next year.
