THE ITALIAN GUEST SPEAKER GAVE A LECTURE AT YSU
"New understanding of the world of nucleo peptides" at YSU Institute of Pharmacy. Giovanni Roviello, Doctor of Biotechnology, researcher at the Institute of Biostructures and Bioimaging of the National Research Council of Naples presented “Synthesis, Properties, Applications of Nucleo amino Acids and Nucleo peptides”.
J. Roviello arrived in Armenia to carry out joint research works and exchange experience with the scientists of YSU Pharmacy Institute. The Italian researcher is the foreign consultant of the research topic "Synthesis and biological evaluation of systems based on non-protein α-amino acids and peptides" guaranteed by the Science Committee of the Armenian Academy of Sciences.
The mentor of the research topic is the head of the chair of pharmacochemistry and pharmacognosy, Ph.D., associate professor Hayarpi Simonyan.
H. Simonyan, emphasizing the interaction with Giovanni Roviello, noted, "We have been cooperating with our Italian partner since 2012, until today we have published many scientific works together. We have been cooperating on this research topic for about a year, and I can confidently say that our partnership is going well," said H. Simonyan.
Doctor of Biotechnological Sciences J. Roviello, speaking about the importance of the presentation topic and cooperation with YSU scientists, emphasized, "My colleagues from the Yerevan State University perform the synthesis of α-amino acids here, that is, they create components, and in Italy we study their biological results, because these components can support the creation of new anti-cancer drugs."
Expert of the scientific training center for medication quality control and monitoring of YSU Institute of Pharmacy, assistant professor of the chair of biomedicine, Ph.D. Lusine Sahakyan, referring to the successful course of the research, emphasized, "After the successful completion of the multi-stage program, we are going to publish the results in high-ranking journals and, of course, in case of success, we will move to the next stage of the life cycle of creating medications. The results of our joint research will contribute to the development of Yerevan State University and Institute of Pharmacy, and their involvement in international scientific works, as well as the expansion of cooperation."
It should be noted that the professors and students of the institute were present at the lecture. At the end of the meeting, the attendees asked the speaker questions related to the lecture, as well as the realization of the research topic and the complications that arose during it.
