"THANKS TO THE KNOWLEDGE I RECEIVED FROM THE SKILLED LECTURERS OF THE ARABIC STUDIES DEPARTMENT, I HAVE NOT ENCOUNTERED ANY PROBLEMS SINCE THE FIRST DAY I ARRIVED IN JORDAN." ANGELA ISMAILYAN
During their studies at the YSU Faculty of Oriental Studies, students have the opportunity to study in a number of Arab countries through an exchange program. Angela Ismailyan will study for one academic year at the Language Center of the University of Jordan.
The conversation with Angela will provide an opportunity to learn about the education provided by the faculty, its practical significance, as well as the goals of YSU students related to their profession.
Angela was familiar with the opportunities provided by the university before entering the faculty of oriental studies of YSU, she heard that having received comprehensive knowledge; she has the opportunity to continue his studies abroad. Angela assures us that one of her primary goals is to take steps towards the development of the university and the country in general.
"They say that it is better to see once than to hear a thousand times," she says frankly and adds. "I heard about Jordan many times during lectures."
"We can dream endlessly, but we don't always go out of our comfort zone and take steps to make our dreams come true. Today, when I am already on the way to the realization of the goal set in front of me, I can say that nothing is impossible," assures Angela, carefully presenting the opportunities provided by the faculty and those who contribute to the achievement of the set goals.
To the question, if not specialist of Arabic studies, what other profession would he choose, she answers. "I entered Yerevan State University with a great desire to discover the East. I was sure that thanks to studying here, I would become a specialist in great demand in the field. Coming to Jordan, I made sure that I had the right point of view."
During the conversation with Angela, the question immediately arises: “Isn't it difficult to communicate with native speakers?”, and the answer is negative.
"Thanks to the knowledge I received from the skilled lecturers of the Department of Arabic Studies, I felt confident from the very first day of my arrival in Jordan," she answers.
According to Angela, Armenians and Arabs have similarities in some character traits, and this contributes to easy communication with them. She emphasizes that the exchange program provides an opportunity to represent Armenia and Armenian culture on international platforms.
"Coming to Jordan, I faced a new reality (a new religion, a new culture, a new society) and began to look and perceive with professional eyes what I had only heard about in my faculty. While studying here, I discover my professionally hidden self."
Talking about the educationally packed days in Jordan, Angela says that games are almost always organized in the classroom, which contribute to the enrichment of vocabulary, as well as exercises aimed at developing listening skills in Arabic are carried out in the classroom environment.
Despite the fact that Angela enthusiastically tells about the days spent in Jordan, however, as she notes, the main goal remains to develop the knowledge she received abroad and to return to Armenia and apply what she learned for the benefit of our country and the university.
