THE MISSION OF THE DIPLOMAT: THE EXAMPLE OF THE RA AMBASSADOR IN THE KINGDOM OF SPAIN. ONLINE LECTURE AT YSU
Within the framework of the subject "Diplomatic Writing" taught at the Faculty of International Relations of YSU, students participated in the online lecture with Sos Avetisyan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to the Kingdom of Spain, on the topic "Armenian-Spanish relations and the features of the diplomatic service".
The purpose of the meeting was to transfer new professional knowledge to the students.
At the beginning of the meeting, after welcoming the ambassador, Gegham Petrosyan, Dean of the Faculty of International Relations, referred to the establishment and development of the faculty, after which the ambassador presented the history and perspectives of the cooperation between the two countries. By his example, he presented the diplomat's mission, main functions and obligations, the features of conducting diplomatic negotiations, diplomatic protocol, and behavior.
Stressing that the online lecture is the result of the joint work of faculty students and professors, Lecturer of "Diplomatic Writing (Spanish)" subject, Associate Professor of YSU Diplomatic Service and Professional Communication Chair, Ph.D. Ruzanna Petrosyan, noted, "The idea of organizing the lecture was created as a result of discussions with students, taking into account how important meetings with diplomats, and especially ambassadors are. Then the management of the faculty assisted in the organization of the meeting."
Emphasizing such meetings and initiatives from the point of view of students' professional establishment and development, Ambassador Sos Avetisyan, advised students to constantly study professional literature, not limiting themselves to a few articles and, most importantly, not to be shy about asking questions, because professional specialists become mostly those people.
Tamara Sargsyan, a student of the Faculty of International Relations of YSU, referring to the importance of the organized meeting, mentioned, "The advice given by the Ambassador will become a guide for professional development and a source of motivation. Meeting professionals with such achievements, we realize that in order to become skilled in our profession and to be worthy of our homeland, we must strive for more."
It should be noted that Zhenya Gulbangyan, the third secretary of the Embassy, and a graduate of the YSU Faculty of International Relations, also participated in the online lecture. According to R. Petrosyan, she is a good example for students to understand that thanks to quality education, hard work, and personal qualities, each of them can become a good diplomat and represent the interests of our country in other countries.
