THE CULTURAL LIFE OF SYRIA WAS PRESENTED AGAIN TO YSU STUDENTS
Nora Arisyan, a graduate of the YSU Oriental Studies Faculty, and Ambassador of the Syrian Arab Republic to Armenia was hosted at the Chair of Arabic Studies of YSU Oriental Studies Faculty.
At the beginning of the lecture, the Ambassador presented her life activities to the students and faculty members of the Department of Arabic Studies. She emphasized that in their family they attached great importance to the preservation of Armenian traditions and culture, they always spoke Armenian.
The ambassador also told about the cultural life of Syria and the current state of the Armenian community there. Referring to the cultural life of the Armenian community in Syria, the ambassador noted that Armenians are trying to restore the active community life they had before the war. For this purpose, various meetings are organized, Armenian holidays are celebrated, and liturgies are served in churches.
Then the speaker referred to Syria's cultural ties with different countries (Oman, Russia, China, United Arab Emirates) and spoke about their importance in the preservation of cultural heritage.
N. Arisyan also emphasized the efforts aimed at the inclusion of Syrian cultural values in the list of intangible cultural heritage of UNESCO, as well as the restoration of cultural monuments damaged or destroyed during the Syrian war.
N. Arisyan welcomed the students' professional choice and highlighted the importance of learning Arabic and Arabic culture in Armenia, saying that reading professional literature and communicating with native speakers are one of the best ways to learn a foreign language.
At YSU, students need to be always in touch with the cultural life of foreign countries.
