YSU STUDENTS MAKE ARMENIAN CULTURE RECOGNIZED ABROAD
Anahit Khudaverdyan, a student of the YSU Oriental Studies Faculty, is currently studying in Cairo on an exchange program. In the conversation with us, Anahit told us about the choice of profession, the opportunities provided by the faculty, the exchange between the two countries, and celebrating the New Year there with Armenian traditions.
Anahit says that when her dream came true and she was admitted to YSU, she set new goals, one of which was to study abroad. According to her, by receiving comprehensive knowledge from the faculty and applying it while communicating with native speakers abroad, she develops professional skills that will be in great demand in Armenia in the future.
"Studying at YSU's Oriental Studies Faculty, we study the history of the entire East and mentally imagine all its charms. It is noteworthy that YSU provides an opportunity to see one of the countries that we regularly hear about during classes. I think this is a good opportunity to take advantage of and apply the knowledge gained abroad for the development of both the university and the country," says Anahit with great enthusiasm, talking about the importance of university education.
She says that while being in Cairo, she gained the experience of living in a foreign environment for a short period, and made sure that she is ready to overcome all obstacles to achieve her goals because the secret of success is patience and striving to achieve the goal.
Speaking about the fullness of the course held at the Cairo Language Center, Anahit notes that meetings that create an environment of social contact are often organized, where everyone represents their country.
"Everyone here tells in detail about their country, national customs, traditions, and religion. When I talk about Armenians and Armenia, presenting the sights of our country, I notice that the students listen with great interest. As a result of such conversations, we discovered many similarities between the representatives of Arab countries and Armenians, both in terms of language (especially dialects) and in general culture, cuisine, and traditions," says Anahit, referring to the common features of the two peoples.
- There are many similarities, but with the traditions of which country did you celebrate the New Year?
- No matter how much you try to celebrate the New Year with Armenian traditions, it will not be completely successful. During the holidays, it was further emphasized how representatives of two different nations can unite their cultures, for example by preparing traditional dishes. These days, it can be said, a unique "cultural dialogue" has been formed, which contributes to the expansion of our worldview.
When asked what she would wish for university students in the New Year, Anahit says, "With education and a large stock of knowledge, you can achieve what you aspire to. Let 2023 be the year of professional growth, achievements, and the fulfillment of goals..."
