YSU STUDENT REPRESENTED ARMENIA AT THE ANNIVERSARY INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL “PETRI SOFIA”
Student of YSU Faculty of Law Maria Petrosyan participated in an annual international school organized by PETRI Sofia, which was held in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria on April 18-24. Maria told us about her impressions and achievements.
The international school with a history of long years, whose theme this year was “Project Management and Budget Collecting”, was attended by more than 50 countries. Two participants from each country were selected on a competitive basis. One of the participants representing Armenia was YSU Faculty of Law student Maria Petrosyan.
“The goal of the school is to give young people an opportunity to present world-wide problems and find solutions to existing problems. This school gives young people the opportunity to become part of the global government. It aims to promote the implementation of 17 UN Sustainable Development goals, which should be implemented by 2030,” - says Maria.
She also mentioned that Y-PEER international youth network operates in about 52 countries and PETRI Sofia invites young people from these countries to discuss issues of concern to young people every year.
The annual international school is organized by Y-PEER International Youth Network, funded by the UNFPA. This year the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Bulgarian Development Fund also supported the organization of the school.
“This annual international school was a great platform where active young people from 52 countries met and discussed the most important issues related to youth. The exchange of international experience also took place within the framework of the school, which will further help me to make Armenia more confident and free on different international platforms. In the framework of the school, young people from the participating countries also presented their culture and national cuisine,” - said YSU Faculty of Law student.
According to Maria, within the framework of the international school numerous meetings were organized with the representatives of a number of international organizations, representatives of the UN General Secretary’s youth affairs council, as well as representatives of the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
After the completion of the annual international school organized by PETRI Sofia, all participants received certificates for participation in the program.
“I have become one of 3 qualified trainers of Y-PEER international youth network in Armenia for active participation in the annual international school,” - says YSU Faculty of Law student.
“Y-PEER Armenia Network launched its activities in 2014, which is open to active youth. As a trainer, thanks to the knowledge and experience gained at the annual international school, I will teach Armenian young people in Y-PEER international youth network how to design and implement successful projects, how to collect the necessary budget and win grants. This summer, members of the international youth network Y-PEER will organize a series of lectures in different communities, especially in border areas, during which we will inform about 17 UN sustainable development goals,” - she said.
