A LECTURE ON “NAGORNO-KARABAKH PROBLEM” WAS DELIVERED AT YSU
Roman Karapetyan, lecturer at the Chair of International Relations and Diplomacy, delivered a lecture on “Nagorno-Karabakh Problem” for the students of YSU Faculty of International Relations today.
It should be noted that the above-mentioned lecture was organized by YSU Faculty of International Relations Student Scientific Society within the framework of the course “Contemporary Conflicts”.
The purpose of the course is to introduce students to the conflicts in the world, their causes and regulatory mechanisms.
Mr. Karapetyan presented not only the current state of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, but also touched upon the historical, legal and political aspects of the conflict.
The speaker focused on the existing negotiation process, presented the positions of the main parties involved in the conflict settlement, as well as the international mediating states and structures and their endeavors in the direction of the NK conflict settlement.
He also presented the positions of the negotiating parties towards the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and the points that can lead to the settlement of the conflict.
Touching upon the position of the new government in the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement, the speaker said: “There was some concern in Armenia’s public-political circles that after the change of power the Armenian authorities could have a differentiated position in the NK conflict settlement, but at a press conference in Stepanakert on May 9, the newly elected prime minister of Armenia underlined the main theses that the new government will put in front of itself. The theses submitted by the newly elected prime minister are not much different from the theses presented by the previous authorities, and even a little tougher than the previous ones.”
