LECTURE ON GEORGIAN- OSSETIAN AND GEORGIAN-ABKHAZIAN CONFLICTS
Today, YSU Faculty of International Relations hosted a lecture on “Contemporary conflicts: Georgian-Ossetian and Georgian-Abkhazian Conflicts” delivered by Lena Zakaryan, a graduate of the "Regional Policy" Master Program at the Faculty of International Relations.
The lecture was organized by the SSS of the Faculty of International Relations, which aims to provide young professionals with the opportunity to get information on the subjects in the framework of the Master’s Program.
The narrow specialization of Lena Zakaryan’s Master’s degree refers to Georgia’s foreign policy, security and its influence in the Caucasus.
During the lecture Lena Zakaryan presented in details the Georgian-Ossetian and Georgian-Abkhazian conflicts, speaking about the origins of the latter and current diplomatic processes.
The speaker introduced spoke about the current negotiating process of the conflict, presented the main parties involved in the settlement of these conflicts, as well as the positions of international mediating states and institutions, their efforts in the direction of conflict resolution.
During the lecture the sides also touched upon the impact of conflicts in the Caucasus, drawing parallels with the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
