STUDENTS WILL BE INTRODUCED TO THE SCIENTIFIC LEGACY OF EMIL ARTIN: INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL AT YSU
The opening ceremony of the international school dedicated to the scientific legacy of the world-renowned mathematician Emil Artin was held at YSU Armenian-Indian Center for Excellence in ICT.
It is held at YSU at the initiative of Professor Yuri Movsisyan, President of the Armenian Mathematical Union, Honorary Head of YSU Algebra and Geometry Chair. It should be noted that this school is held for the first time at YSU, which will last till May 25.
More than 20 students from Iran, India, Iraq, Syria, as well as more than 20 students studying at YSU Faculty of Mathematics and Mechanics participate in the international school.
5 professors from Italy, the Netherlands, Germany and the United States will deliver lectures. Yuri Movsisyan said that professors from abroad are considered to be Emil Artin’s main heritage specialists in algebra, geometry, topology, numerical theory, algebraic geometry.
According to Yuri Movsisyan, the main goal of the international school is to introduce Emil Artin’s scientific mathematical directions to talented students as well as to promote the creation of favorable atmosphere in mathematics and applied mathematics in Armenia: “The reason for such a great interest is that Emil Artin is one of the classics of the 20th century mathematics school, the results of which are now actively used in computer science,” - he added.
Associate Professor of the Faculty of Mathematics and Mechanics of YSU, organizer of the international school Sergey Davidov said professors from abroad will come up with topics that are not included in university curricula and will contribute to the development of students’ professional skills. The purpose of this international school is to motivate young professionals to engage in mathematical sciences.
