FAMOUS PROSECUTOR OF ARMENIAN ORIGIN NICOLAS KUMJIAN DELIVERED A LECTURE FOR YOUNG LAWYERS
Today, YSU Faculty of Law hosted famous lawyer of Armenian originand well-known prosecutor Nicholas Kumjian, who has been serving in the frames of international criminal cases in many international tribunals, including International Criminal Court (ICC) (Sierra Leone, Cambodia, Yugoslavia).
He delivered a lecture "Developments in international criminal law in the past quarter century where we were and where we are going", organized by YSU Faculty of Law SSS and Criminal Law Chair.
The event was attended by students from YSU and other universities, post-graduate students, as well as representatives of state and public institutions.
The Dean of the Faculty G. Ghazinyan opened the event, who highlighted this exceptional opportunity to share the experience with the guest, donated a book about the symbols of Armenia to him.
During the lecture the speaker presented the developments in international criminal law from the previous century to the present. N. Kumjian also presented interesting facts about his work experience through video and spoke about the inadmissibility of cruel and inhuman punishments.
At the end of the meeting, students addressed a number of questions concerning the cases under the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court.
