“ARMENIAN SKETCHES”: THEATRICAL PREMIER AT YSU
The premiere of the “Armenian Sketches” performance dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the First Republic of Armenia and May heroic battles took place at YSU Cultural Center today.
The “Armenian Sketches” is based on Vardges Petrosyan’s work. The authors of the screenplay scenario are YSU Cultural Center Director Karine Davtyan and Ani Mikayelyan, the director is Karine Davtyan, and the roles are played by the students of YSU Cultural Center “Hamalsaranakan” theater-studio.
Karine Davtyan told us during a conversation that she had long been thinking about staging a patriotic performance that would shake the spirit of today’s youth: “I have been looking for a lot of years and have read a lot of things, but none of them seemed to fit that way of thinking I would like. One day I remembered about Vardges Petrosyan’s play, which he wrote for the Dramatic Theater, and it appeared in my hands. The play was staged on time. Again, I read and understood, this is what should be done right now.”
Karine Davtyan included new heroes and episodes in the performance: “The play was written during a period after which very important events took place in our people’s lives, including the Artsakh War, the four-day war. He had a great impact on me. The young patriotic spirit of the young guys is extremely touching.”
“The new way of thinking is to convey a new youthful spirit that Mrs. Davtyan has worked with Ani Mikayelyan, who won the Andy Awards for a literary competition at the “Voice of the Generation of Independence”. His essay about independence has made a great impact on all of us. He has a great mindset. That is why I called her and said I wanted to start a work together. We have worked for about a year to create a play,” – she said.
Members of Vardges Petrosyan’s family were also invited to the premiere, who welcomed Mrs. Davtyan’s new solutions and welcomed the desire to stage a new show.
The performance is also rich in symbols. In a conversation with us Mrs. Davtyan said that in order to transfer the whole spectrum, she collaborated with Teryan Cultural Center Director Lilit Melikyan who greatly helped to achieve the desired result.
The director of the Cultural Center assured that the performance will be shown in Artsakh as well as on other stages.
