THE ISRAELI–PALESTINIAN CONFLICT WAS DISCUSSED BY STUDENTS
The UN Model Conference was organized by the students in YSU Academic Council session hall.
YSU Faculty of International Relations Student Scientific Society organizes the UN Model Conference every year, the theme of which this time is the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the ways to find possible solutions.
“The main purpose of organizing the UN Model Conference is to improve students’ knowledge of foreign languages and develop debate skills,” - said organizer of the event, graduate of the Faculty of International Relations Lilit Khachatryan.
The position and standpoints of any state is presented in English during the conference by students and graduates from different faculties of Yerevan State University, State University of Languages and Social Sciences after V. Bryusov, Armenian State University of Economics and Armenian American University.
“Students are quite interested in this initiative. There are also graduates who are employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia. We also have one participant from the German University of Passau,” - says Tatev Derzyan, UN Model-Conference Co-organizer.
The representative of Israel in the UN, the future political scientist Lusine Avagyan, who has studied the conflict and the positions of the parties involved in it, considers the main points of her speech the provisions of the regional stability and the prevention of large-scale war.
“Such events are very important for the students as you have to do in-depth studies and make views on a particular issue. This is a platform where you also have the opportunity to develop the debate skills, which is also very important for further professional growth,” - says Shushan Avagyan.
The adoption of the resolution follows an enthusiastic, but at the same time, heated debates and speeches about the scenario.
At the end of the UN Model Conference participants will receive certificates.
