MEETING WITH REPRESENTATIVES OF “ATALAYA” THEATER OF SEVILLE AT YSU
Today the Chair of Romance Philology of YSU Romance-Germanic Faculty hosted the leader and actors of “Atalaya” theater of Seville.
The guests arrived in Yerevan to participate in the international theatric festival “Hayfest” within the scope of which they performed one of the masterpieces of Spanish literature-“La Celestina” play by Fernando de Rojas.
The guests arrived at YSU at the behest of the head of Romance Philology chair Hasmik Baghdasaryan.
During the meeting-discussion those present referred to a number of art and social issues. At the beginning of the meeting they referred to the issues of artistic value and social themes.
The also spoke about the artistic value of Fernando de Rojas’s “La Celestina”. The leader of the theater Ricardo Iniesta noted that the exclusive value of this work of art is that the themes it reveals such as women’s rights, social inequality are still actual.
Besides, these are the themes that bring the discussion to social platform and deals with social problems. Attaching importance to speaking out about social problems the guests presented the program “Caravan Next”. The aim of this program is to make the people who have problems with integration in society visible, give them a voice using the theater as an important tool in this process.
At the end of the meeting the guests particularly stressed the importance of using modern elements in the performance. In this aspect the right choice of costumes, stage light, language and linguistic stress is of high importance.
