FUNERAL OF GURGEN MAHARI’S WIFE, ANTONINA MAHARI TO TAKE PLACE TODAY
Yesterday, on October 3, at the age of 94 died the prosaist, member of the Union of Writers of Armenia Antonina Mahari, the wife of Gurgen Mahari.
Antonina Mahari lived alone, in Kasyan street. A few days ago her health worsened and after staying ten days at hospital she passed away. Antonina Pavlitaite was born in Vilnius.
She passed through the period of Stalin tyranny as she was a member of underground organization fought for Lithuania. She was arrested and repressed to Siberia where she met Gurgen Mahari, became his life partner, saved the life of the great writer.
