SPECIALISTS TALK ABOUT POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE ASPECTS OF REVOLUTIONAL DEVELOPMENTS OF THE SPHERE OF MEDIA
Young journalists hosted the experts of media sphere Shushan Doydoyan and Ashot Melikyan.
The meeting with the founder president of Freedom of Information Center Shushan Doydoyan and the head of the Committee for Freedom of Speech Ashot Melikyan was initiated by the Student Scientific Society of the Faculty of Journalism.
The Dean of the Faculty of Journalism Naghash Martirosyan who was present at the meeting too, highly appreciated the activity of the student body and stressed the importance of students’ meetings with the experienced specialists of the sphere.
First of all, Shushan Doydoyan referred to “Golden key, rusty lock” annual award which has been held since 2003 and is dedicated to the adoption of the RA Law “On freedom of Information”.
The main goal of the event is to encourage transparent work of state and public organizations, as well as to support those who fight for the law-journalists, citizens and human rights defenders at the same time criticizing the violators of the sphere.
Shushan Doydoyan also mentioned that the new government formed after the revolution in Armenia has to overcome a number of new challenges: re-training of human resources poorly coordinated and informed structures.
Ashot Melikyan said that under the previous government media sphere used to be completely monopolized, which had only negative impact on the sphere, however certain positive changes are already obvious and this fact is really inspiring.
Students took active part in the discussions, shared their concerns and opinions on the situation and developments in media field.
