“WITHOUT YOUTH REVOLUTION WOULDN’T BE WHAT IT IS TODAY”: THOMAS MAYR-HARTING
Today the Managing Director for Europe and Central Asia in the European External Action Service Thomas Mayr-Harting delivered a lecture for the students at the Session Hall of the Academic Council of YSU.
The director of the YSU Centre for European Studies Arthur Ghazinyan, the head of the EU Delegation to Armenia Piotr Switalski were present at the lecture.
During the meeting the speaker expressed gratitude to those present for the interest in the European Union. “It’s a pleasure for me to deliver a lecture for the students who see the perspectives of cooperation with the European Union”.
Tomas Mayr-Harting spoke about the directions of cooperation with Armenia within the frames of Eastern Partnership “Wellbeing and preservation of democratic values of the member countries is important for the European Union. If our neighbor is powerful we are powerful too-this is the principle we follow”.
Mr. Mayr-Harting also referred to the recent political situation in Armenia mentioning that what has taken place is a good opportunity to improve and change everything. “Actually, the role of youth must be appreciated in this issue. Without youth the revolution wouldn’t be what it is today. The younger generation must be at the base of changes”, said the speaker.
