“EXTREMOPHILES: A WINDOW TO FUTURE” : SCHOOL OF YOUNG SCHOLARS

The school is organized with the assistance of “The Federation of European Microbiological Societies” (FEMS).

The school started its activity at “Armbiotechnology” research and production center of the RA NAS. According to the program, on the second day the lectures are delivered at the university and on the third day the activities are held at “Armbiotechnology” RPC where the participants can get practical knowledge about the microbiological production. Students of different universities participate in the school. Lectures about extremophiles are to be delivered the goal of which is involve students in science and attach importance to extremophiles.

The head of YSU Chair of Biochemistry, Microbiology and Biotechnology Armen Trchynyan made a greeting speech. Then the deputy director of Science Research Institute of Biology and the director of the Innovation Center for Microbiological Biotechnology and Biofuel Karen Trchunyan presented the activity of the center. He informed that the goal of the center is to increase the level of knowledge in the field of microbiology and biotechnology in Armenia.

A visit to the Innovation Center for Microbiological Biotechnology and Biofuel was organized for the participants of the school The center has all up-to-date equipment to ensure the biotechnological cycle and everyone had the opportunity to test their innovative ideas in the laboratory.

The president of the Armenian Association of Microbiologists Narine Vardanyan informed that the aim of the school is to popularize the microbiological knowledge among youth and keep them aware of the achievements of modern science.

The Associate Professor of the Chair of Biochemistry, Microbiology and Biotechnology of YSU Faculty of Biology Hovik Panosyan and the head of the same chair Armen Trchunyan delivered their lectures.

The school of young scholars “Extremophiles: a window to future” is dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the RA National Academy of Sciences.
