YSU TO PROMOTE INTEGRATION OF IMMIGRANTS AND REFUGEES: TRAININGS ARE HELD
On the request of the state migration service of the RA Ministry of Territorial Administration and Development, the Department of Postgraduate Additional Education of YSU provides the course of civil orientation trainings for Syrian Armenians settled in Armenia.
Taking into account the growth of immigration flows into Armenia, since 2016 the RA Government has worked out the conception aimed to settle the problem of integration of different groups of immigrants in Armenia.
According to the conception, immigrants are the foreign citizens and people without citizenship settled in Armenia, and integration is the coordinated activity of state and local self-governance bodies, public and international organizations, wide circles of society to create comfortable conditions for settlement of foreigners and establishment of social relationship for them as a hosting country.
Within the scope of that activity YSU contributes to the process of integration by organization of social orientation training for those people who have been recognized refugees in the RA and provided with shelters and for long-term immigrants.
The trainings were held from 20 to 23 of November. Within the framework of the training they discussed such themes as human and citizens’ main rights and freedoms, immigrants’ rights for social insurance and employment, health and education.
The participants of the training were presented general information on the history and culture of Armenia, its role and place on the world map.
Among other lecturers of YSU the participants were also delivered lectures by Yervand Minasyan, the lecturer of YSU.
Faculty of Oriental Studies who moved to Armenia from Iraq years ago and now shared his experience of integration in the homeland.
