THREE-DAY REPUBICAN YOUTH CENFERENCE DEDICATED TO HISTORIAN’S DAY AT YSU
The three-day republican youth conference has been opened today on the joint initiative of the Faculties of History, Theology, Oriental Studies and the Institute for Armenian Studies of YSU.
The conference makes it possible for students, post-graduates and young scholars to present the academic audience the results of their scientific research, to improve the skills of carrying our scientific research. At the beginning of the event the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of History, Associate Professor Vahagn Hakobyan greeted those present and spoke about the importance of holding similar events. “Sometimes our students have excellent theoretical knowledge but in practice are unable to write scientific articles or theses. Due to such conferences we try to involve student s in scientific research work and familiarize them with the peculiarities of writing scientific articles”. The first report at the conference was made by the RS NAS researcher Harutyun Khudanyan who spoke about the New Assyrian Kingdom and its strategical actions in the basin of the Upper Tigris in the first half of the 9th century BC. On the first day of the conference reports were made not only by YSU representatives, but also by the post-graduate of Russian-Armenian (Slavonic) University Chair of Political Science Zhanna Tadevosyan and the history teacher of the secondary school N6 of Gyumri Tamara Karapetyan.
