“IT’S DIFFICULT TO IMAGINE THE CULTURAL LIFE OF PROVDIV WITHOUT ARMENIAN COMMUNITY”: AMBASSADOR OF BULGARIA IS AT YSU
The exhibition dedicated to the Bulgarian city of Plovdiv was held today in the foyers of YSU library.
He Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Bulgaria to Armenia H.E. Maria Pavlova Tzotzorkova-Kaymaktchieva, the Deputy Ministers of Culture of Armenia, Ambassadors Extraordinary and plenipotentiary of Georgia, Japan and other countries, YSU Vice-Rectors, political figures, gusts were present at the opening event.
The EU recognized Plovdiv European Cultural Capital of 2019. On this occasion the Embassy of Bulgaria in Armenia decided to send photographer Raffi Yurejyan to Plovdiv to take photos of the cultural and public activity the Armenian community of Plovdiv develops there. H.E. Ambassador Maria Pavlova Tzotzorkova-Kaymatchieva told us that this year is very symbolic for Plovdiv, and the Embassy decided to present this city with rich cultural heritage and traditions from the point of view of the creative activity of the Armenian community as well.
“Plovdiv is special as here Armenians, Jews, Muslims has always lived and created side by side, and their cultural and religious differences became the guarantees of peaceful life and not conflicts”, said the Ambassador. Photographer Raffi Yurejyan mentioned that he got impressed not only with the beauty of Plovdiv but also with the cultural potential of the Armenians living there.
According to the photographer, one of the peculiarities of Plovdiv is that the old city looked particularly special with the new youth. The Photographer presented the sights and cultural values of Plovdiv and the cultural and social routine of the local Armenian community.
“One of the most beautiful pictures on the exhibition is the photo of the rich Armenian merchant Stepan Hindilyan’s house which was recognized a museum value in Plovdiv”, said Raffi Yurejyan.
The exhibition is open for everyone.
