SOME YSU STUDENTS CELEBRATED THE NEW YEAR ABROAD
Due to the cooperation of Yerevan State University with various universities worldwide some students have the opportunity to get education abroad.
This year many of them were far from home and Armenia. ysu.am had a talk with some Armenian students studying abroad to get to know how they celebrated their holidays. Nazeli Chabryan is a student of YSU Faculty of International Relations. Since September 2018 she has been studying at Bologna University in Italy.
“At Bologna University I have participated in Christmas concert in which students were performing, then I marked the New Year with my friends. Being far from home on this family holiday is a bit uncommon. Most of all I miss New Year hustle and bustle in Armenia. I feel blessed to have Armenian friends among my foreign fellow-students who made my holidays warmer and more joyful. I wish YSU students and lecturers a year full of fruitful scientific activity, achievements and success”, said Nazeli Chabryan.
The student of the Faculty of Oriental Studies Anna Rafyan has been living and studying in El-Kuwait since September 4 of the previous year. The interest and peculiarity of getting education abroad are often based on cultural exchange and festivals comprise an important part of culture.
"Here we celebrate not only our holidays but the ones of other nations as well. We mark our national and religious holidays at the Armenian church of Kuwait with the representatives of the local Armenian community. We celebrated the New Year our senior Armenian friends. Warm atmosphere was ensured which is highly important when you are such a long way from home. Kuwait University organizes a lot of events, nevertheless, it’s natural that Christmas and New Year aren’t paid much attention to by Moslems.
They just provide tolerant atmosphere. It is so unusual to be from home and not to participate in all those preparations. Besides my dearest people I miss my hometown with its festive decorations and winter spirit. Actually, palm-tree can’t be decorated like a New Year Tree, however everything here has its peculiar charm. I wish our students and lecturers endless inspiration. I want them never to stop self-improvement”, said Anna.
Heghine Vardapetyan is a student of the Faculty of International Relations who has been studying at Bologna University in Italy since last September. “I celebrated the New Year far from my native town but together with my nearest people. My family visited me here. I certainly miss all my dearest and nearest and the festive preparations we usually have. Nothing can be compared with them. I celebrated Christmas with my old and new friends. In 2019 I wish students a fruitful academic year, new achievements and professional accomplishments”, added Heghine Vardapetyan.
