AT THE MEETING YSU RECTOR TELLS ABOUT PRESSURE EXERTED ON HIM
Today Aram Simonyan called a special meeting of the Academic Council of YSU during which he announced about the pressure exerted on him.
YSU Rector states that serious pressure has been exerted on the administration of the university and personally on him. He reminded that since summer the State Control Service was carrying out inspections in the university and they were finished in December with his press conference.
Aram Simonyan said that in his opinion it is a certain process aimed against him and it has a political context.
Aram Simonyan told the members of the Academic Council that approximately a week ago the RA Minister of Science and Education had a talk with him and urged him to resign.
“Throughout these months I have spoken many times about the upcoming 100th anniversary of YSU and a government commission is to be formed, but they explained to me that it is not formed because they don’t want to mark this event with me, but with another rector. This was what the Minister said”.
“I said that I won’t resign until this swamp has been cleared up, until the results of the inspections have been found out, as it will mean that I admit that I had carried out fraudulent activity, that I am to be blamed for it. It means I admit all the accusations addressed to the administration of the university”, explained the Rector.
Aram Simonyan also informed that on the same day, after his meeting with the ES Minister, 4 representatives of the 6th General Department of the Police were at the university.
According to Aram Simonyan, this process is not led by the Prime minister, as the latter clearly announced that management of higher educational institutions is to be carried out by the university itself, that he has no intention to interfere into those processes.
The whole information on the discussion is available in Armenian.
