WORTHY DAUGTHER OF PATRIOT PARENTS: LOUISE MANOOGIAN SIMONE
The great Armenian philanthropist, the former President of the Armenian General benevolent Union, one of the most influential figures in Armenian modern history Louise Manoogian Simone died on February 18 in the Unites States.
Her father was an eminent public figure, the RA National Hero, philanthropist Alec Manoogian who had a great contribution to , consolidation of Armenians worldwide. Alec Manoogian was the 5th President of the Armenian General Benevolent Union. Yerevan State University is located in the street named after him.
In the 1990s, when Armenia was encountering political and economical hardships, under the patronage of Louise Manoogian Simone the AGBU showed significant financial assistance to Yerevan State University: the halls named after the philanthropists were renovated, a number of programs important for the university were implemented.
