“YOUR STUDENTS’ KNOWLEDGE OF SPANISH IS REALLY IMPRESSIVE”: DEAN OF FACULTY OF PHILOLOGY OF COMPLUTENSE UNIVERSITY OF MADRID EUGENIO LUJAN
Within the frames of “ERASMUS+” program, the Chair of Romance Philology of the Faculty of European Languages and Communication of YSU hosted the Dean of the Faculty of Philology of Complutense University of Madrid Mr. Eugenio Lujan.
Mr. Eugenio Lujan is an expert of Indo-European Linguistics and currently is delivering a series of lectures for the tutors and students of the Chair of Romance Philology of the Faculty of European Languages and Communication. The theme of the lectures is “Pre-Romance languages”.
The head of the Chair of Romance Philology Hasmik Baghdasaryan informed us that it is honour for her to host Eugenio Lujan, and that the theme of the lectures was not a coincidence.
“Though the theme if very important it is not involved in our curriculum, and we made agreement with our guest in advance that the series of lectures will include pre-Romance languages including modern studies of the Basque language. It should be noted that the similarities between Basque and Armenian languages were studied by the linguist, specialist of Basque language Vahan Sargsyan as well”, informed Hasmik Baghdasaryan.
In his conversation with us Mr. Eugenio Lujan said that he was pleased to be informed that two Armenian students studying at Complutense University within the frames of “ERASMUS+” program-Christine Mangasaryan and Tsoghik Papoyan got high results at the Faculty of Philology of Complutense University of Madrid.
“It was very interesting for me to visit the faculty where such students are taught. While delivering the lectures here I was delighted again to see that students master the Spanish language though Armenia is rather far from Spain-speaking countries. The knowledge of your students is really impressive”, stated Mr. Lujan.
Speaking about his native university, one of the most famous universities of Spain-Complutense University of Madrid which educated 7 Nobel Prize Awardees, as well as famous philosophers and writers-Camilo José Cela, Federico Garcia Lorca, Antonio de Nebrija, Mr. Lujan noted that the secret of such educational and scientific success is in the educational traditions the university keeps since the day of its foundation.
At the end of the lectures a consulting stage will be held and students will be able to discuss any issues they are interested related to Spanish philology with the expert.
