GAGIK GHAZINYAN TO GO ON HEADING THE FACULTY OF LAW
Today, during the meeting of the Academic Council of YSU Faculty of Law, with 39 votes for and one invalid vote Gagik Ghazinyan was elected Dean of the Faculty of Law.
Besides the members of the Academic Council there was also the Vice-Rector for YSU Scientific Policy and International Cooperation Arsen Babajanyan, as well as representatives of the teaching staff and students.
In accordance with the Regulations, the members of the Academic Council first of all elected the chair of the meeting. Accordingly, the honorary head of the Chair of Civil Law Tariel Barseghyan undertook the position.
He informed that the issue of nominating a dean was discussed in all departments within the determined time. “All the departments didn’t offer any candidates except for the current Dean Gagik Ghazinyan. We have only, candidate today”.
Presenting the program of development provided for the coming five years, Gagik Ghazinyan stated that their aim is to increase the quality of education, to create more attractive conditions for the teaching staff and students, to increase the effectiveness of teaching and learning as well as to expand the possibilities of the faculty.
In his speech Gagik Ghazinyan stressed the importance of increasing the attractiveness of working and studying at the faculty, quality improvement of education and scientific activity, of making the faculty more recognizable and international.
According to Professor Ghazinyan, it is planned to promote scientific and teaching activity of lecturers by instillation of the institute of practical employees to relieve the lecturers’ activity, to provide refresher courses for the teaching staff and so on. To make the process more attractive for students they plan to work out a system to orientate and adapt students to educational process, to create a law college, to increase the effectiveness of students’ internship, support in finding job for alumni and so on.
