A NEW SUBJECT TO BE INCLUDED IN CURRICULLUM OF FACULTY OF SOCIOLOGY
A working meeting was held today at the Faculty of Sociology during which the modules and themes of lectures necessary for including the subject “Social work with youth” in the curriculum were discussed.
The Dean of the Faculty of Sociology, the representatives of the RA Minist5ry of Education and Science, of the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs, of the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, as well as specialists from a number of NGOs were present at the meeting.
The Armenian representation of “Save the Children” organization in teamwork with the Chair of Social Work and Social Technology of YSU Faculty of Sociology are working out the themes and modules of “Social work for youth” subject within the frames of “EU for Youth: Better Skills for Better Future” program which is sponsored by the European Union.
The Dean of the Faculty of Sociology Arthur Mkrtchyan informed that the installation of the mentioned above subject is under discussion.
According to Mr. Mkrtchyan, it is planned to carry out teaching of “Social work for youth” subject for the 3rd and 4th year students of Social Work department of the Faculty of Sociology. As a result, the students will get appropriate knowledge and skills in the sphere of work with youth.
The Dean the course is planned to be started in the academic year of 2019-2020. Its duration is one term.
