“EVERYTHING MUST BE DONE TO PREVENT NEW GENOCIDES”:YSU ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR NAIRA GASPARYAN
The series of scientific seminars entitled “The issues of Armenian identity” dedicated to the victims of the Armenian Genocide, started today at the Faculty of European Languages and Communication.
The series of seminars has been organized on the initiative of the Laboratory for the Studies of anti-Armenian Propaganda Discourse in English.
The head of the Chair of English Philology, PhD, Professor, corresponding member of the RA NAS Seda Gasparyan noted that the themes of upcoming seminars are “The Image of Heroic Armenian Woman in Armenian History”, “The Armenian Identity in Buxtons’ Accounts for the British Government”, “Kemal Yalcin’s Observations of Silenced Armenian Memories”.
“Lawrence’s Interpretation of the Armenian Identity in the Context of Rummel’s Theory of Genocides” scientific seminar was conducted by the Associate Professor of the Chair of English Philology of YSU, PhD Naira Gasparyan.
Naira Gasparyan informed that she had carried out linguistic research and studied the facts written by missioners about the Armenian Genocide in different years.
According to her, their aim as linguists is to study the huge number of documents about the Armenian Genocide which are kept in archives and are available on the Web.
She also stressed that as a tutor she feels obliged to present the students that the Armenian Genocide took place not in the Ottoman Turkey but in Armenia.
“In my research I show that there are numerous evidences of foreigners how Armenians struggled but were massacred. The younger generations must understand that Armenians were not a fearful nation, that they fought for survival”, said Naira Gasparyan and added that today we have shaken off the status of a victim as we must move forward and do our best to prevent new genocides.
