CONFERENCE DEDICATED TO 150TH BIRTHDAY ANNIVERSARY OF HOVHANNES TUMANYAN AT YSU IJEVAN BRANCH

The conference was organized by the Chair of Armenian Language and Literature of the Faculty of Humanitarian Sciences of YSU IB.

The vice marzpet of Tavush province Tatul Stepanyan, members of Ijevan Council of Elders were present at the event.

Specialists from YSU, YSU Ijevan branch, the RA NAS Institute of Literature after M. Abeghyan, the RA NAS Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography, the of the RA NAS Centre for Armenian Studies of Shirak, from the museum-institut4e of the Armenian Genocide as well as from Vanadzor State University. There were also guests from Great Britain.

The event started with attending the exhibition of art works held in the foyer of Applied Arts building.

The opening speech was made by the acting head of the Chair of Armenian Language and Literature of YSU IB, PhD Vachagan Avagyan. He spoke about the activity and contribution of H. Tumanyan.

The patriarch of Tavush diocese Bishop Bagrat Galstanyan greeted those present with a prayer.

The acting director of YSU IB, PhD in Physics and mathematics, Associate professor Artak Tsutsulyan noted that the conference is a good opportunity to refer to Tumanyan’s biography and evaluate his legacy.

The director of the RA NAS Institute of Literature after M. Abeghyan Vardan Devrikyan also attached importance to such conferences and told about the 10-volume edition of Tumanyan’s works and presented the branch the first and second volumes which had already come out.

The greeting speeches were followed by reports and the conference continued in three parts.

After the conference the participants got certificates.
