“GENDER-SENSITIVE RESEARCH: METHODOLOGY AND CHAHLLENGES” WORKSHOP AT YSU
“Gender-sensitive research: methodology and challenges” workshop was organized in Paleans hall of YSU by the Centre for Gender and Leadership Studies of YSU jointly with the Facuty of Social Sciences of Fribourg University, Switzerland.
The workshop is a part of the grant program of cooperation in the field of “Science and Technology” of the Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovations of Switzerland.
The director of the centre Gohar Shahnazaryan greeting those present attached importance to the cooperation with foreign partners and referred to the necessity of discussion related to gender-sensitive themes.
Professor of Social Anthropology of Fribourg University, Switzerland Andrea Boscoboinik made a report on the studies of settling in mountainous regions.
She introduced the research team comprised of the specialists from Spain and Switzerland. The Swiss Alps and the Spanish Pyrenees were studied as thy are touristic centres which are currently actively urbanized.
According to the speaker, this phenomenon is called an ethnographic situation which can be explained with a new form of habitation.
Lifestyle migration is explained as a process of seeking for better life, when people search for beautiful sights, nature, foreign culture and ethnic surroundings.
The workshop is to be continued on June 28, and research results will be presented by Sibylle Lustenberger and Ulrike Ziemer. The latter is a lecturer at Winchester University, UK and researched the Armenian Diaspora of Russia and the gender problems in Armenia and Artsakh.
