Przemysław Domaszewski, Deputy Director of the Institute of Health Sciences at the University of Opole, Poland, delivered a lecture titled "Body Fat Percentage: A Crucial Factor in Safe Caffeine Dosage" to the academic staff and students of YSU Institute of Pharmacy.
Dr. Domaszewski highlighted that caffeine is one of the most widely used stimulants worldwide, consumed by approximately 90% of the population, and is a natural, potent antioxidant. He pointed out that the caffeine content in different types of coffee varies, which is also influenced by the method of preparation. It is crucial for individuals to consider their body weight when consuming coffee, and based on Dr. Domaszewski’s research findings, they should also take their body fat percentage into account, as it is an important factor in determining a safe dosage.

The lecture was followed by an engaging discussion, where attendees had the opportunity to ask questions and receive detailed answers.
Dr. Domaszewski is an expert in sports nutrition and supplementation, with over 20 years of experience working with top Polish athletes. His research (H-index: 10, Scopus) focuses on optimizing caffeine supplementation based on body composition and studying the effects of intermittent fasting and nutritional supplements on physical health.

From March 4 to April 2 of this year, Dr. Domaszewski is conducting research at YSU Institute of Pharmacy's research center in the field of synthesizing new peptide-mimetic compounds with therapeutic potential. This work is part of the European Commission-funded "Horizon Europe" Marie Skłodowska-Curie Staff Exchanges program, specifically under the grant titled "Disrupting Purine De Novo Biosynthesis to Fight Cancer – From Molecules to Cells to In Vivo Studies" (PurHumanDrome).
