GENERAL PROVISIONS
"Yerevan State University" Foundation (hereinafter YSU), adhering to the fundamental principles of maintaining equality between people, protecting human dignity, and excluding discrimination, considers any sexual harassment unacceptable and adopts within the framework of the approaches and rules defined by this policy to prevent and punish any sexual harassment. experience or tendency to create a safe and secure working environment for YSU employees and students.
The purpose of this Sexual Harassment Prevention Policy (hereinafter referred to as the Policy) is to define key concepts, describe impermissible forms of behavior, specify key actions to prevent and punish sexual harassment, and provide a sexual harassment-free environment where human rights are respected and discrimination is excluded.
THE DEFINITION AND SCOPE OF SEXUAL VIOLATION
Sexual harassment is a form of gender discrimination, a verbal or physical act of sexual nature or any situation that is aimed at humiliating, intimidating, hostile, degrading or similar situations.
The concept of sexual harassment includes, but is not limited to, the following manifestations:
promising improved employment status in exchange for sex;
promising employment in exchange for sex;
promising educational advancement in exchange for sex;
making sexual jokes and comments;
spreading sexual rumors about employees or students,
sending or circulating emails, messages, audio-visual materials of a sexual nature;
asking unnecessary questions or making comments about a person's sex life;
unwanted hugs, kisses and touches
criminal acts, including sexual harassment, sexual assault, sexual coercion, etc.
SEXUAL VIOLENCE PREVENTION
The main tool for preventing sexual harassment is informing YSU employees and students about the phenomenon, as well as about this policy. YSU, being an environment for the creation and transfer of knowledge, should first of all inform the individuals operating in that environment about permissible and impermissible manifestations of behavior.
Every person hired by the YSU personnel management department must be informed about this policy and confirm the familiarization with a signature.
At the time of adoption of the policy, YSU employees must be properly informed about the policy and sign the familiarization.
Awareness about methods and procedures for preventing sexual harassment should also be included in YSU training programs.
Upon admission to YSU, as well as at the time of acceptance of the policy, YSU students are notified of this policy by sending it to their e-mail.
The staff of the YSU Personnel Management Department and the YSU Student Affairs Center must undergo training to perform the functions defined in this policy.
SEXUAL VIOLATION REPORTING AND INVESTIGATION PROCEDURE
A YSU employee or student can report a case of sexual harassment, regardless of whether he or she is the victim or witness of the harassment.
In the case of an employee, the information about the case of sexual harassment should be addressed to the head of the YSU personnel management department, and in the case of a student, to the director of the YSU student affairs center.
Immediately after receiving the information, the heads of the mentioned departments initiate and carry out an investigation of the case.
The individual composition of the examination committee is approved by the order of YSU rector.
The members of the examination commission or the involved specialists are obliged not to publish the information regarding the information provider, the victim of the harassment, as well as the person accused of the harassment during the investigation of the case of sexual harassment, for which they sign a corresponding statement.
The information confirmed as a result of the examination and the conclusion made in connection with it are presented to the rector of YSU to make a decision.
Based on the conclusion of the commission that conducted the investigation, YSU rector has the right to subject the employee or student to disciplinary punishment in accordance with the RA legislation and internal legal acts of YSU, or to submit a report to the law enforcement authorities in case of apparently containing elements of a crime.
