On March 21, 2024, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay to Armenia Eduardo Augusto Rosenbrock Bidart visited the Faculty of European Languages and Communication. He met with the students from the Spanish Department at the Chair of Romance Philology.
In her welcome speech, Hasmik Baghdasaryan, Head of the Chair of Romance Philology, highlighted the significance of the ambassador’s visit for advancing educational and cultural ties between the two institutions and for promoting Spanish language teaching.
As part of this collaboration, Spanish Department students had the opportunity to undergo their professional internship at the Embassy of Uruguay from February 5 to March 15. This experience enhanced their understanding of Spanish in the socio-political context, as well as their analytical, intercultural, and communicative skills.
During the meeting, the students presented their research conducted at the embassy, focusing on the geopolitical situation and new developments in the region.
At the end of the meeting, the ambassador expressed his appreciation to the students who underwent their professional internship at the embassy for their research contributions and proficiency in Spanish. He pointed out that the students added a unique “color” to the embassy during their six-week internship. The ambassador also thanked Gevorg Barseghyan, Dean of the Faculty of European Languages and Communication, and Hasmik Baghdasaryan for their efforts in maintaining high standards in Spanish language education. He handed over certificates to the interns and expressed optimism for future collaborative projects.
