A two-day seminar-training for German language teachers and lecturers was held within the framework of the conference "Global Multilingualism: The Role of German in Cross-Cultural Context" initiated by the Chair of German Philology, YSU Faculty of European Languages and Communication.
The seminar instructor was Jennifer Swanda, a German language trainer and consultant at Klett Publishing House. The seminar was organized by the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Armenia and Yerevan State University. Teachers and lecturers from Yerevan and the provinces participated in the training.
The "Classroom Management in German Language Instruction" training aimed to introduce the latest methods for effective class organization and management to teachers and lecturers. Emphasis was placed on correctly formulating the objectives and desired outcomes of the lesson, the dynamic teaching process, and the targeted application of various methods.
The goal of the "German in Enterprises" seminar was to explore the application of the German language in the field of entrepreneurship. This course involves the creation of a simulated company, offering an opportunity to use German in a business context and to integrate the concept of "German in the Firm" into the teaching process. Developed by J. Swanda, this course offers extensive opportunities to deepen German language knowledge and develop relevant skills for specific entrepreneurial situations, while simultaneously enhancing cross-cultural awareness.
Head of the Chair of German Philology, Associate Professor, PhD Gayane Savoyan, who organized the training courses, emphasized that such meetings provide a platform for bringing together German language specialists under one roof, where they can exchange experiences with colleagues and also address issues in schools and universities. Solutions to these challenges will contribute to improving the quality of German language teaching in line with modern demands.
