Bachelor's degree programme
The Undergraduate education of the Iranian Studies Chair of the Oriental Studies faculty is carried out by the “Iranian Studies” educational program.
Program admission requirements
To be admitted to the Faculty of Oriental Studies, the applicant takes two competitive exams: "Armenian History" (written) and "Armenian Language" (written) or "Foreign Language" (written).
The aim of the program
By receiving higher professional education, students acquire the necessary knowledge and practical skills to be sought-after and competitive specialists in the labor market. During their 4-year studies, students receive both general, professional, and narrow professional knowledge.
Students of the "Iranian Studies" educational program develop their professional abilities in scientific-pedagogical and scientific research, which are carried out by the chair, in the departments of related specialties (Turkology, Arabic studies), as well as at the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in the department of Persian language manuscripts of the Matenadaran after M. Mashtots, in the Institute of Oriental Studies of the RA NAS and analytical centers and services related to regional issues, in the RA National Archives, as well as in the framework of cooperation with universities and scientific educational centers of Iranian-speaking countries.

The content of professional compulsory and optional courses refers to the analysis of current regional problems, Islamic studies, linguistic, and cultural studies. Based on the demand for qualified professionals in the RA private sector and the state system, YSU "Iranian Studies" program graduates are offered targeted courses and professional skills related to narrow and broad professional fields.
Career opportunities
Students of the Faculty of Oriental Studies become specialists meeting the requirements of the local and international market, who have the opportunity to work both in the state system and in the private sector. Orientalist specialists are in demand in the RA President's staff, the RA Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Defense, the RA National Security Service, the information-analytical and foreign relations departments of other state bodies, non-state organizations, and media that conduct political science, economic and cultural research, as well as those engaged in tourism, export and in private importing companies. Some of the graduates have the opportunity to carry out scientific and educational activities in such important scientific centers as the RA National Academy of Sciences, Yerevan Matenadaran named after M. Mashtots, Yerevan State University, and other state and private universities, scientific research institutes.
