Chair of Personality Psychology

The Chair has been operating in the faculty since 2009.

The objectives of the Chair's activities are:

• To contribute to the implementation of long-term scientific projects in the fields of personality psychology and developmental (age) psychology and the establishment of a fundamental and applied field of personality psychology in Armenia.

• To develop and implement innovative courses and educational programs related to the field of personality psychology for different educational levels (Bachelor's, Master's, and Postgraduate).

The scientific orientations of the Chair are:

• Studies of behavioral orientations of a person in the conditions of socio-cultural changes: values, beliefs, and positions.

• Studies of beliefs and attitudes regarding the subjective well-being of a person.

• Studies of personal growth and social competence under educational system reforms.

The following subjects are involved in the Undergraduate curriculum of the "Psychology" specialty:

• Differential psychology and practice

• Personality psychology

• Theories of personality

• Age psychology

• Psychology of education

• Psychological counseling and practice

• Personal growth practice

• Psychodiagnosis of a child

• Psychology of sexual behavior

• Psychological service at school

The Chair prepares specialists through two Master's programs:

• "Personal psychology and psychological counseling"

• "Child psychology and psychotherapy"

A "Personal growth and self-regulation" Post-graduate course is developed and implemented in the Chair as well.

Since 2011, the "Person and Social Environment" laboratory has been operating adjacent to the Chair as well.

In 2020, the Chair of Personality Psychology launched a program to provide psychological support to students, uniting the YSU psychologists.

The program Psychological Support and Mutual Aid Platform aims to create an environment of mutual aid and support for students of YSU and other universities.
