Archimandrite Theology
Master's programme
About the program
The Faculty of Theology of YSU implements the "Doctrinal Theology" educational program.
Admission requirements
Applicants are admitted according to the YSU’s Master's degree admission procedure, without an entrance exam (competition-based), taking into account the evaluation grade or grade point average (GPA).
The aim of the program
The aim of the "Doctrinal Theology" educational program is to prepare qualified specialists in the field of doctrinal theology, creating favorable conditions for the significant improvement of learning, teaching, and evaluation processes, and allowing the student to engage in scientific activities.
Advantages
The subjects included in the Master's degree program mainly represent a condensed picture of modern scientific achievements and historical theology has an important place here. Thus, "Theology of the Armenian Church", "Mystic Theology", "Current Issues of Theology", "Armenian Holiday System", "Armenian Rule Book", "Armenian Christian Culture" and other subjects are taught in-depth and comprehensively, which are not limited to only theoretical form, as they are of practical importance as well. Many aspects of those courses still lack deeper research, so the students have the opportunity to turn them into private material for a dissertation taking into account their scientific interests and skills. This will enable them to have a strong basis to enter the scientific arena or pedagogical institutions.
Career opportunities
Upon successful completion of the program, the graduate will be able to compare the confessional formulations of the Armenian and universal churches, emphasize the differences, distinguish and analyze the literary heritage of the fathers and theologians of the Armenian and universal churches, highlight the main features of the census calculations used in bibliographic heritage, perform correct census calculations, analyze the Old Testaments and New Testaments, as well as to differentiate para-canonical, and secondary-canonical books.
Graduates of the Master's program have the opportunity to act as experts in issues related to the field of theology.
