This year, YSU Faculty of Sociology is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a series of events. As part of the jubilee celebrations, a gathering titled "The Faculty of Sociology in the Mosaic of Its Graduates’ Success Stories" was held on November 8 at YSU. The event aimed to organize a meeting-discussion between current students of the faculty and graduates who have achieved remarkable success in various fields.
The Faculty of Sociology today serves as the foundation for the success stories of leading specialists across different sectors, providing knowledge, skills, values, and perspectives. The faculty is dear to thousands of sociologists, social workers, public relations experts, and human resources management professionals.
The event opened with a speech by the Dean of the faculty, Professor Artur Mkrtichyan. Welcoming and congratulating the graduates from various years, as well as the students and professors, A. Mkrtichyan emphasized the significance of the meeting from the perspective that the students themselves had voiced the importance of meeting with graduates.
Anahit Sahakyan, Head of the Faculty's Office and Deputy Dean, presented the 20-year journey of the faculty's formation and development, recalling all the individuals who played a significant role in establishing the faculty as a research and educational unit.
During the event, graduates from various years shared their stories of coming to the Faculty of Sociology, their initial professional experiences, as well as the challenges and successes in their professional fields. The graduates emphasized the faculty's contribution to their professional achievements and career advancement, noting that the faculty played a key role in shaping their personal growth, family happiness, and academic paths.
The faculty's graduates today work in diverse sectors. They have established research centers, educational institutions, and business organizations, and are involved in development projects. They are now leading experts in sociological research, social work and policy, public relations, and human resources management in Armenia.
Among the attendees were the founders and directors of Brevis, Spring PR, Empirika, R-Insights, and APR Group, as well as professionals holding leadership and significant positions in various local and international companies.
The event was organized in collaboration with the Armenian Sociological Association. The founders and most members of the association are also graduates of the Sociology Faculty. The president of the Armenian Sociological Association, Gayane Hovakimyan, stated that the association was formed with the aim of uniting the efforts of established professionals and organizations in the field to seek and find collective solutions to challenges. Emphasizing the importance of such meetings, she noted that they will be held on a continuous basis.
Concluding the event, Professor Artur Mkrtichyan emphasized that in order to adapt to innovative changes, face challenges, and make continuous progress, it is essential to unite efforts.
