Chair of Civil Procedure
The Chair of Civil Procedure of the Faculty of Law of YSU was established based on the Chair of Civil Law founded in 1936-1937, when, on the recommendation of the Academic Council of YSU, a decision was made to organize the implementation of research and educational programs of Civil Law and Civil Procedure within the framework of separate Chairs (2002).
The first head of the Chair was the honored lawyer of RA, YSU Professor R. Petrosyan, after which YSU Professor, "Mkhitar Gosh" medalist A. Iskoyan, and YSU Associate Professor S. Meghryan. In 2018, Dr., Professor V. Hovhannisyan was elected as the head of the Chair.
Throughout its activity, the Chair has always been at the forefront of the development of judicial law and various forms of protection of subjective rights. In 2008, with the support of the OSCE representation in RA, the scientific and educational center of Ecological law was formed next to the Chair, which was named after Professor A. Iskoyan in 2022.
With the efforts of the Chair, all the main courses taught are provided with Armenian textbooks and teaching-methodical support materials for practical classes.
The main directions of research activity of the Chair are judicial law institutions, non-judicial forms of protection of subjective rights, the study of problems of land law, ecological law, labor law, as well as international separate structures of rights protection.
Doctor of legal sciences, Professors, Associate Professors, and candidates of legal sciences teach in the Chair. High-ranking law enforcement specialists from the RA Constitutional Court, the RA Court of Cassation, the RA Bankruptcy Court, as well as from other parts of the state system carry out effective educational activities at the Chair.
The teaching staff of the Chair includes recognized and leading specialists in the republic, who regularly undergo training in national, foreign, and international institutions, and are involved in various programs of both scientific and practical orientation. It is worth mentioning that RA civil and RA administrative procedure codes, the RA bankruptcy law, and many other field laws were developed with the active participation of members of the Chair. The members of the Chair are also involved in the development and discussion of drafts of legal acts, the analysis of legal practice, and the preparation of professional opinions on questions, as well as the scientific and practical interpretations of the norms of the RA Constitution and other laws.
The Chair implements the following Master's degree programs: "Business Law and International Arbitration" and "Judicial Law and Advocacy" (full-time, part-time).
